One fun part of living in Florida is being exposed to all kinds of animals. Most of ya'll reading this post have heard about Scott and the alligator at the old house (if not, it's a funny story so ask him about it). Another native we've met is the Sand Hill Crane. These birds have a call so loud and distinctive that the first time I heard it at home, I thought it was an alarm or the t.v. When I realized the sound was coming from outside I ran to the front window to see what it could be. I took this picture of a family of three Sand Hill Cranes strutting through our front yard. The dogs barked - they didn't know what to make of our noisy visitors, but it didn't phase the birds at all.
